Brian started curling in 2000 mainly to keep up with daughter, Anna, now at Dalhousie He usually curls Wednesday evenings. The Jobb’s son , Stuart, also a curler, now attends Carleton University in Ottawa.
Brian was born in Upper Belmont (near Truro), attended a one-room school through grade 3, then Debert Elementary and Central Colchester High School. He graduated from Acadia University in 1971 majoring in History and Political Science. In 1972 he completed an Education degree. That fall he joined Lunenburg High School where he taught social studies to grades six through ten for 14 years. A number of our Clubs curlers were his former students. Afterwards, he taught third graders in Mahone Bay before becoming Principal of the Academy in 1996. Brian retired in 2006 but still fills in as substitute Principal when required.
Brian met his wife, Joan, a Haligonian, through Scottish Country Dancing.
Brian traveled in Europe in the ‘70’s, with student and teacher groups, including trips to Lunenburg, Germany. He golfs in the summer and volunteers as Treasurer for the Lunenburg Academy Foundation and the Lunenburg & District Music Festival. He enjoys reading history, especially 16th century English history.
The Lunenburg Academy, Brian's domain for
10 years, was opened in 1895. The building
was designed by H.H. Mott of New Brunswick
and constructed by the Oxford Furniture
Company on the site known as Gallows Hill.
