Jim Cosgrove

Jim Cosgrove

(Jim & Anne aboard their boat Splish Splash)

Jim joined the LCC in 1999 after a conversation with Pat Oldfield, also a current member. He had never curled before and learned under the instruction of Jim and Heather Eisenhauer.  When asked what some of the highlights of his curling experience have been Jim said "just being out there and being competitive".

A SCUBA diving accident at age 23 caused Jim to lose his hearing.

Jim was born in Halifax to Irish-Canadian parents, his father arriving in Nova Scotia from Ireland during the depression. Jim and Anne MacDonald were married in 1967 and they have two adult daughters – Siobhán and Heather. Siobhán is an insurance broker who along with her husband have a dairy farm in Ireland. Heather is a registered massage therapist who has her own massage therapy business in Halifax .

Jim and Anne now live on Cosgrove Drive on the shore of Princess Inlet. Three brothers and a sister also live on Cosgrove Drive. Jim spent summer vacations in Lunenburg with family from the age of 11. In 1974, Jim and Anne acquired the land of their current homestead. Soon thereafter they moved an original cottage onto a foundation and expanded the cottage over the years until their house was completed in ’98.

Jim is a certified mechanical engineering technologist with the Province of Nova Scotia. He retired in ’96 after a career with Nova Scotia Power as a Construction Superintendent. Anne is a part-time Teaching Assistant in Lunenburg County.

Jim’s current interests, aside from curling, include golf, carpentry and deep sea fishing.
