Julie started curling when she was in grade six at LHS, following in her family's footsteps. Her father, Creighton Myra, (President of LCC '81-'82) was a competitive curler who skipped his own team. Her older brother, Mike, was a competitive curler in the junior men's field.

In the mid 80's curling flourished for the Lunenburg girls and Julie and her teammates were coached by her father Creighton.

In 1985-86, Julie (as skip), along with her team mates, won the NS School Athletic Federation Provincial Title. The team consisted of Shona Kinley (mate), Nicole Crouse Mosher (second) and Donna Minard Crouse (lead).

1986 was perhaps the highlight of Julie's curling career. The team captured the NS Pepsi Junior Women's Provincial Championship in Sydney, NS. Her team (
see photo below) of Shona Kinley, Nicole Crouse Mosher and Jennifer Flack went on to represent the province in Noranda, Quebec.

Since then Julie has curled mixed with her brother Mike and his wife, Sharon, finishing runner-up in the province twice, 1991 and 1997.

Julie and her husband Ron were married in 1990 and have two beautiful daughters. Taylor, l6, plays hockey in the winter along with any other sport going. Raquel, l3, skips her own junior girls team and hopes to represent the province some day in a national event.

Currently, Julie is assistant manager at Wild Elements Home Expressions located at 55 Montague Street.
