Heather Towndrow

Heather at the HockHeather's first experience with curling was at a Fun Night in 2011, and she's been hooked ever since. She's always enjoyed watching curling, and even went to see Kevin Martin curl during the Vancouver Olympics, but it took working with Mike Myra at Composites Atlantic to get her to finally come out and try curling for herself.

Lunenburg has always been home for Heather, but she lived in Montreal for 5 years while studying Mechanical Engineering at McGill, and moved out West to Vancouver for a year before she realized that no where else could ever feel like home. She is very fortunate to be able to practice engineering here in her small hometown, and is working towards her professional designation.

Outside of work and curling, Heather spends almost all her time with her boyfriend Peter Schnare, whom she met at work and who can often be seen watching her curl Wednesday nights after he's finished karate. They share a love of The Princess Bride, Doctor Who, Midsomer Murders, and Downton Abbey, among other things, which surely bodes well for long term happiness.

Heather has enough hobbies and interests to ensure she is well able to respond to any questions from city friends about just what is there to do in the country anyways. Her summers always involves at least one trip to Keji, and she has discovered the wonders of Nova Scotia wines.

She also loves cycling and cooking, and tried her first garden last year, which largely fed the deer. She always has a book or two on the go, but has to be careful if she picks up anything by Tad Williams or George RR Martin, because nothing else will get accomplished until she knows what happens next.  (by Heather)
